Description

This basket, from my Anthill Vessel range, is created from wrapping cloths from my dyepot bound over thick cotton rope.

Some wrapping cloths go in and out of the pot until they are sooty black.  Others come out of their first cook bearing some of the tones of the item they enclosed.  Either way they become interesting in themselves and come upstairs to the To Do Pile.  Like the handstitching I find coiling these baskets meditative.  You slow down and become quiet in both body and mind, focused on the motion and colours of binding the basket.

This one is 30cm tall and 25cm wide.  A perfect size to clutch and texturally fun to pat.
